| The UK Government has announced targets of 1.5 million tonnes of carbon savings from domestic energy efficiency by 2005, rising to 5 million tonnes in 2010, and a further saving of between four and six million tonnes by 2020. Domestic boilers account for up to 80% of carbon dioxide emissions and as a consequence, are targeted by the Government as a source of carbon savings. Using water treatment chemicals within new and existing central heating installation can significantly contribute to this saving.
Through the inhibition of corrosion and scale, chemical inhibitors have been shown to maintain or improve the long-term energy efficiency of domestic central heating systems. |
